The Gaming and Business PC Building Workshop is a hands-on programme for beginners, focusing on planning, assembling, configuring, and optimising custom desktop computers for both gaming and business use. Participants will learn the entire PC-building process — from understanding hardware components to assembly, software installation, and troubleshooting. The workshop combines technical theory with practical sessions, making it ideal for hobbyists and aspiring technicians. What You Will Cover
Seven structured modules take you from the basics of PC hardware through to building, configuring, and optimising a complete system — finishing with a hands-on final project.
Learn why and how to build your own system, understand the differences between gaming, business, and hybrid configurations, and explore the importance of performance vs. productivity needs.
Understand CPUs, motherboards, RAM, storage (NVMe, SATA, HDD), power supplies, cases, and expansion devices. Differentiate between Gaming PC and Office workstation configurations.
Plan and research your build, select components for a dependable system, and work across entry, mid-range, and high-end budget tiers. Includes project planning and costing.
Install the CPU, cooler, and RAM; mount the motherboard; route cables; connect power; install GPU and storage devices; and complete the first boot checklist. Configure BIOS and update firmware safely.
Install and configure Windows 11 in physical and virtual environments. Cover GPU drivers, benchmarking tools, productivity suites, virtualisation, backup, cloud sync, and security setup.
Stress-test CPU, GPU, and RAM. Monitor temperatures and power consumption, identify bottlenecks, optimise cooling, and fine-tune settings for both gaming and business workstations.
Diagnose and resolve common hardware faults, troubleshoot no-boot scenarios, perform cleaning and long-term upkeep, and safely upgrade components with relevant health and safety practices.
Design and assemble either a gaming PC for a specific genre or a business workstation optimised for a specific workflow. Produce a component list, budget, performance expectations, and build rationale.
